About a month ago, I received a phone call from a polling firm seeking to inquire as to my movie-going habits. The woman asked me how many times I'd gone to the movies over the previous two months, and she literally gasped when I told her zero. After asking whether there was anyone else she could speak to who was a more active movie goer, she hung up. This though is the one movie that may get me out to the theater this summer. Johnny Depp is probably my favorite actor, and I love the character he has created with Captain Jack Sparrow.

I haven't seen Pirates yet either, but it's one I want to see.

It's off-topic for your most recent post, but I enjoyed your vacation pictures. I've never been to NYC, but it sounds / looks like a great place to visit. The Guggenheim must have been something to experience. I really admire Frank Lloyd Wright.

I read your comment on Bean's Blog today. C'mon, Wings! They're not that bad. (I'm not the anonymous comment that followed yours). btw, The Who is on the radio right now as I'm writing this. (not kroq).

Dan - thanks! the museums were phenomenal - the regular collections of the Met, Guggenheim and MOMA are way beyond what we get out here as special exhibitions at LACMA, and the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture was very cool! I have to admit I am pretty anti-McCartney - every time he opens his mouth I think he is reminding us all that Lennon was the genius behind the Beatles! :-)

I love Bean's blog!

I liked Wings up through Speed of Sound. LOVED Band on the Run.

It's funny, I've got a friend very angry with me right now for making some pro-Lennon statements, but he knows damn well I like McCartney. It seems like Lennon/McCartney can be very divisive.

I agree Lennon was the genius, but McCartney contributed significantly. Harrison wasn't far behind. I'm referring to their music and lyric writing. All four (Starkey included) made it great.

Well my personal theory is that McCartney lost his talent - which he no doubt possessed in spades in the early days - when he made a Faustian/Dorian Gray deal with the devil to sell his soul for unimaginable riches! Plus if you place Lennon's art work next to McCartney's (which is how it is displayed at a Lahaina, Maui gallery) one has oodles of talent, and one paints like me . . . :-)
