The most fun thing on tv this season?

Emmitt Smith dancing in the freestyle portion of the Dancing with the Stars finals to MC Hammer's Can't Touch This. I voted 20 times for Emmitt (meanwhile the pot of dog stew* was burning . . .), and I really think he deserves to win. His technique is good, but his style and charm are off the charts. Go Emmitt!

*Dog stew - 1 1/4 lbs. ground turkey, 12 oz. can of tuna packed in oil, 6 eggs, 2 lbs. of brown rice, 2 lbs. frozen peas and carrots. Cover in water, and cook for 45 - 60 minutes.

p.s. dog stew is the home made dog food I cook every week for Nanners and Noodles!

I watched a little last night because my mom is beyond addicted. I never got hooked because it conflicted with House. I'm team Emmitt as well. Mostly because he's a great dancer, especially considering how big and solid he is. I assumed he would have two left feet, but he is very graceful.

Plus, AC Slater comes off as smarmy. His dance partner made him "a better dancer, a better competitor and a better man." Gag me with a spoon.

The NFL'ers don't watch because of Gilmore Girls, but we did catch some of it and all of the free style. How did they come to the conclusion that Mario's was the better dance. I saw hip movement, no feet movement. Those moves Emmitt was putting out there were amazing, and I hated the Cowboys. Mario is a cheater. He cheated on his wife before and one week into the marriage. He really is a pig, but tries to come off so adorable. We did try to vote a few times for Emmitt.

Oh, and the dinner turned out pretty good. I think I need to add more half and half and do things a little different, but the cajun spice I got rocked. Adam thought he saw you last night walking the pups, but he wasn't sure.

Emmitt is a great dancer. I hope he wins too.

Speaking of Mario and Carina... didn't that little skit seem really staged a couple of weeks ago. When they were talking about how they get on each others nerves?

nfl jen - I'm glad you liked the shrimp dish! It's hard to see folks at night on the belt, and I usually avoid dogs I don't recognize as being ones Hanna and Sam like . . . one of these days we'll finally meet in person :-)

And I agree about Emmitt and his moves - and he's not built like the other dancing guys, he's built like a running back - to look that graceful is quite a feat

Joe - totally agree!

It is hard to see people on the belt right now. I will be walking Nikki tonight, so we should be passing you around 5:30 tonight. Sneeking by as to not get your kids excited. :)Adam is looking forward to meeting you. :) One day we will have to meet for a drink or two. We are always at Taco Surf, bellied up to the bar on Mondays. Cheers.

I hope you're not pull our [dog] leg with that Dog Stew recipe. How about some more info: Do you brown the turkey or the rice 1st? Do you do anything with the eggs, or just throw them in? How much water? Cook at a boil, or something less?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm a cook that needs specifics. Thanks.

Dan - it really is for the dogs! I've been making it for the dogs for about 8 mos now. Both have lost weight, and have softer coats. I just throw it all in a big pot - uncooked ground turkey, raw eggs (I break up the yolks), add in the frozen vegies, the tuna and the brown rice. (chicken livers instead of tuna when I can find them) I add a fair amount of water and cook it at below a boil for about 45 minutes to an hour.

Well now I’m embarrassed. I guess I should have known it was really for your dogs. I guess I’ll try the Creamy Cajun Shrimp Linguine instead (but it sounds harder to make than how you made it sound).

dan - don't be! it's probably better that people don't assume I cook for my dogs :-)
