The Golden Globes are boring as hell, so I'm lying in bed reading the Gilded Moose, and listening to the mouse I'm trying to catch knocking over dishes in the sink. Fingers crossed I properly smeared peanut butter on the Victor electronic mouse trap . . .

You know it's a boring awards show when you switch channels to watch the second hour of "McBride" - the John Laroquette mystery show on the Hallmark channel - instead. The good news is that Diagnosis Murder is on next.

And seriously, those were the highlights of Beatty's career? Dick Tracy? Yeah, he was pretty in Splendor in the Grass, but that was 45 years ago.

rc - well Hallmark's Mystery Woman show does co-star Linc from the Mod Squad - Clarence Williams III. But McBride does suck pretty bad

John Laroquette is still acting? Seriously?

I didn't even know the Globes were on last night until I heard Kevin & Bean this morning. I was busy trying to stay up to date on 24.

I couldn't believe Dustin Hoffman actually had the balls to mention Ishtar.

The bright side is at least they didn't show Madonna on the Dick Tracy clip.

edit - yes! he plays a defense attorney solving crimes - ala Perry Mason - they are still producing new episodes

pru - honestly, this one was worse than most I thought

la - good point, but didn't they have the Madonna song from Tracy playing towards the end????

I love the idea of award shows but in reality they are so boring to watch.

Also in regards to award shows, it makes me very uncomfortable seeing actors I have a lot of respect for who are so nervous they can't put two words together at the podium. That's one of the main reasons I don't watch. Plus the length. And the boredom. And the fact that I just don't care.

edit - they are pretty dull and boring w/o a good script, direction, and of course - editing!

I can't believe the nerve of them playing Madonna when Warren's wife was sitting there. And Tom Hanks speech sucked balls. I didn't even know they knew each other. I would rather have heard Nicholson give a speech.

BTW: I have a Beatty story. I stalked him when I was a teenager after seeing on a talk show that he lived at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. My friend and I hopped on a Greyhound bus to LA to meet him. Needless to say, he sent me home. So he is really a decent guy despite his reputation.

I fell asleep somewhere after Sascha accepted his award.

kookla - great story! And I thought it was rude too to play Madge with Annette sitting there

Yeah, award shows are pretty sucky. And it is truly more of a popularity contest rather than awarding achievement. But sometimes the two are not mutually exclusive ... though rarely. Anyway, glad to hear Scorsese and Beatty won something. And Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock.

Warren Beatty was gorgeous in Splender in the grass but I agree with you his work has gone downhill since then.

Tom Hanks is such a tool. I saw clips of his speech.

The Golden Globes were boring. I was however, surprised as to how hot Sascha Baron Cohen is without his Borat getup. It's quite the transformation.

since I watch so little TV, I have to ask, do mice like the smooth peanut butter, or the cruchy variety?

OMG how many mice do you have? Do any of your friends have a cat you can borrow for a day or two?
