One final salute to Yellowstone (at least for now), as we were walking down the trail to the Boiling River, a couple of bison came up from the river's edge . . . and then the rest of the cow/calf herd joined them.

Wow, they're pretty darn close. They don't hide from humans or are they just used to them?

mishy - they are pretty used to people, and the cow and calf herds are pretty mellow, though I guess the bulls can sometimes be aggressive.

That's great you can get so close to the animals. Around here you a couple of seconds and then they're gone.

How do you get your pictures so clear? They look so good, I can practically smell the herd from here.

flix - I did sort of stand behind a bush in case they were startled and began to run!

pru - I bought a new Canon camera that I can barely operate . . .

p.s. they don't smell as bad as you'd think!
