I was tagged by the Princess in Galoshes to list 8 random facts about myself . . .

1. I used to be an avid seamstress, and in college, made all my sorority formals.

2. I hate sushi. I have tried dozens of time to develop a taste for it, but it remains for me like being forced to eat peas when I was a kid. Wash it down, and try not to chuck it back up.

3. I was born pigeon toed and had casts on my legs beginning when I was only a couple of months old. The result was that I could talk beginning when I was 9 months old, but was nearly 2 years old before I could walk.

4. I like rollercoasters, but hate rides that spin.

5. I skipped 4th grade.

6. I have never been able to do a cartwheel.

7. I have a pioneer woman fantasy, where I live on a plot of land with lots of animals, and grow my own food.

8. I dislike most chick flicks.

Anybody else care to share any interesting/semi-interesting/uninteresting facts about themselves?

Three semi-to-uninteresting facts about me:

- I don't reliably know my left from right. When I was a kid, I got a cut on my left wrist that left a scar, and have used it as a crutch ever since.

- I'm a bad Italian in that I hate both tomatoes and olives.

- I was one of the unusual Caucasian babies born with brown eyes.

1.) I am unable to add small sums of numbers without counting on my fingers.

2.) I have grand delusions of growing up and being a spy.

3.) Children (especially infants and babies) scare the hell out of me, but no one ever really believes me and I constantly get small children shoved in my arms ("Once you get used to babies, how can you not fall in love with them?!?")

I'm a sushi-convert, but I will admit, it took me awhile to get used to it. I'm very impressed with your clothes-making abilities, Diane! From knitting to sewing, you are very crafty.

- I don't eat vegetables of any kind. It's some sort of mental thing from when I was a kid, I assume. I can eat them chopped up IN things (sometimes), but the thought of eating a salad makes me want to vomit. (Same goes for Sushi, btw).

- When I was 7, I fell off my bike and landed on my chin. My jaw locked open and I had a cut down to the bone. I still have a scar across my chin and a chip of bone missing from where I hit the pavement.

- I can't roll my r's, which caused my Spanish professor to publicly ridicule me.

Not sure any of those are interesting, but they're all pathetically true.

Before I started blogging, I knew virtually nothing about celebrities.

I used to hike and camp as a teen, but the thought of doing it as an adult bores me.

I get bored very easily.

Edit - I can't roll my R's either, but I took French in high school and college.

1 - As a child I took piano lessons, which I hated at the time but came to realize it was one of the best things I ever had to do. I later played clarinet and bass clarinet in H.S. band. I can still read music.

2 - Also as a child I was hit in the head with a baseball while up to bat. I also hit a curb with my face while riding my bike, and chipped my tooth. And I broke my leg in Jr. H.S. while high jumping - I cleared the bar and landed correctly, but at the start of my jump I heard a loud "snap".

1. My favorite bible quote is, "Lazarus, come forth! And the dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen." It's so creepy. It used to give chills as a child.

2. When I was in high school I changed hair colors more frequently than Britney Spears. Unlike her I preferred rainbow shades. Blue, purple, red, and green. It got so damaged I had to cut it off in a pixie.

3. Since moving to Nashville I have fallen in love with smokey bar-b-que.

1)I really like being alone and sometimes worry that means I'm weird.

2) Like Mishy, I still count on my fingers and use a calculator.

3) I cannot figure out south/north/west/east directions....ever. (how can cops say "heading northbound on ...?" What way is that? How do you know without a compass? - I can't read a compass either)

4) I never broke a bone or had any interesting accidents as a kid. But I've made up for that as an adult.

I am double jointed from my toes to my shoulders.

OMG, La... even tomatoes on pizza?

joe - I like tomato sauce, but I hate the texture of an actual tomato. So if there's a big chunk or slice of tomato on a pizza, yes, I pull it off.

I had sushi and sashimi last night for dinner (but this is not a regular meal for me, maybe one a year).

Like your pioneer woman fantasy, I've always wanted to live a year way up north, cutting my own firewood and otherwise spending a winter reading and writing

Why does it SO not surprise me that you were quite the seamstress? Where were you when I was trying to convince my bridesmaids that it'd be fun to MAKE the bridesmaid dresses????

Sorry Diane, I can't share your joy for roller-coasters. As an adult I can handle them now, but usually chose not to ride.

If anyone calls me a wimp I'll give 'em a sandwich.

A knuckle sandwich!

PS - Great post, as usual, Diane!
