My new issue of Bead Style magazine arrived today. I've mentioned before that one of the really cool things about alot of crafting communities, i.e., knitters, jewelry makers, is the strong desire to give back and reach out to help others, particularly people living in impoverished areas.

This issue features the directions to make a hot, hot, hot bracelet and earrings combo constructed from beads made by a group of Ugandan refugees. You can find their work here. I have ordered some of the loose beads to make the bracelet and earrings, and I can't wait for the beads to arrive!

Sunny the puppy has returned to Las Vegas, but he was a lot of fun while he was here. Pictured are Sunny, Hanna and Samantha waiting for Milk Bones. As you can see, Sunny is trying very hard to sit still.

Cool, beads are interesting. I have a whole sack full of them that I don't know what to do with being as I don't do things with beads.

Nice blog. Hugs.

In all fairness, I can barely sit still when I'm waiting for my milkbone cookie.

Those dogs are total cuteness!

Make sure to show us your finished beadwork.

That's so cool to combine helping a distant community with your hobby.

I know this would have been a tall order, but I would like to see a photo of all three dogs side by side so I'd get an idea of their sizes! You do beads as well as knit? You got all kind of crafts!

edit - they are indeed!

bbc - maybe donate them to a local community center?

mishy - I will for sure

flix - thanks! there are a lot of groups trying to find ways to get the good produced in far away lands out to the public for sale. For instance, there is a lot of wool being produced in the lands that are the former USSR

kat - i think I miss him more than they do

sage - that was my goal, but c/n pull it off. Samantha is about 21 lbs, Hanna about 71 lbs, and Sunny is taller than Hanna, but hasn't totally filled out yet. My guess is that he'll be a 90 lb. dog when he finishes growing

Believe it or not because of my work I am able to get lists of excellent bead shops in New York city.

Sunny's a cutie!

Been babysitting my grand puppy a lot this summer. She's a hand-full but worth every minute of it!

Ryan - we need to hear that list, I'm a beader too (although not much of one lately).

It looks like the girls are a little better practiced at sitting still than Sunny is.

Totally cute shots of all three.

That is really amazing and wonderful about the crafting communities. And it really works towards making the globe a smaller place and sharing in the craft amongst cultures. Yeah, I really like these kinds of stories, lol.

And the dogs look very playful. They must be tons of fun.

PS - What Mish said. Can't wait to see the beadwork.
