Do you remember the first 45 record you bought? How about your first album?

For me, the first two 45s I recall buying were Eli's Coming/Circle for a Landing by Three Dog Night, and Down on the Corner by Creedence Clearwater Revival. I was about 8 years old. My best friend at the time and I had dances we would dress up in old petticoats and perform to each record

The first album I recall owning was given to me for Christmas - The Partridge Family Album by the Partridge Family. . . .

How about you?

Oh, I am SO old! My first 45 was Ricochet Romance by Teresa Brewer. "I don't want a ricochet romance, I don't want a ricochet love. If you're gonna ricochet, baby, find another turtle dove." I can't remember the first album. I know I had a bunch of Elvis 45 EP's. The only early LP's I can remember were Bobby Rydell and Fabian.

I can't believe I'm so old!!

My first album was The Monkees (the one with the TV theme song). My first 45 was Sweet Georgia Brown, naturally.

My first 45 was "In the Year 2525 by Zinger and Evans (I think, a one hit wonder). The first album was Hair--which made my mother furious. She was even more furious when the church was planning for a retreat and they were asking for particular songs--one of which was on the album and I volunteered it--she didn't want anyone to know that we had that album. "Give me a head with hair," I think back with fond memories after my recent posted pics... This would be a good post!

Diane, just to let you know, I stole your idea--as well as waxed on about 33's, 45's and 78's.

I don't think I've ever purchased a 45 single.

My music purchases began with cassettes. (Talking Heads, Ramones, The Furs, etc.)

I bought my very first 45 at a garage sale when I was about 10 or 11. It was "Yesterday" by The Beatles. Ever since, I've been a Beatles fan through and through.

The first LP of my own was given to me for Christmas - my sister bought me ELO's "Greatest Hits." The first albums I bought myself were bought at the same time when I was 12 - "Alpha" by Asia and "Sports" by Huey Lewis & the News.

I was only really allowed to listen to radio for the longest time. Then CDs became accessible and I was allowed to buy two. Janet Jackson's janet and Ace of Base's self titled CD. My parents eventually became concerned with the sexual content of janet.
