I voted!
Of course, the voting machines were all down at my voting location, so voting was done by placing an X next to the candidate of my choice. This will require hand counting, and as a result, there is zero chance that my vote will ever be counted. So for the record, I voted for Barack Obama, I voted against Proposition 93, which changes term limits in California, and I voted for Propositions 94-97, the Indian gaming initiatives . . .
And I got a nasty postcard informing me that I was supposed to have shown up for jury duty last Monday, so now I have jury duty starting on . . . April Fool's Day!
At least I try to do my civic duty . . .
And from the LA Times election coverage: "Several registered Republicans at the Sunland polling place said they were unhappy with the choices in their party and thought Obama was a viable option. Judith Holleman, a voice actress from Lakeview Terrace who declined to give her age, said she would have considered voting for Obama if his name sounded more American.
Instead she voted for McCain even though she said she doesn't like him."
What is wrong with people?
10 pm UPDATE: They are already calling California for Clinton, and I am deeply disappointed in my fellow California Democrats. While I will support the Democratic candidate, Clinton has something slightly less that a snowball's chance in hell of winning the presidency. Say goodnite, Gracie.

That's exactly how I'm voting, so you'll be covered in your district (if I can figure out to vote twice, that is).
I was getting my hair colored last week, and without anyone revealing their positions, we all agreed this was the most interesting election perhaps in our lifetime. We also commented on the fact that Bush hadn't endorsed any Republican candidates, and maybe that's because none of them want his endorsement.
I voted the same way. We should have a little liberal get together sometime. (Just an FYI, Wally is a Dem, too. He's a very liberal Labrador).
Yech, jury duty. Good for you, though. I'm missing the democratic caucus here in Denver, today. Sad. But it IS an interesting year!

A candidate's name would definitely not affect my decision, but it would be kind of odd to have a president named Barack Hussein Obama. Just sounds a little like Saddam/Osama.
But, again, someone's name would not influence my decision! Let's hope we don't have anyone else following Ms. Holleman's lead. :)

I'm envious that you got to vote in a real primary--unlike us in Michigan and those in Florida.

Your question pretty much answers itself- she's a Republican.
Unless today is an absolute blowout by one side or the other- something that I understand to be quite unlikely- our little state caucus this coming Sunday will actually mean something. As someone recently relocated here from the Midwest, this will be my first caucus. The wife and I will both be caucusing for Obama.

I believe it is the result of the continuing decline of the average American's IQ and laziness. Instead of taking the that time to research where a candidate stands on issues that are important to you as an individual and as a citizen of this country as a whole, we get a large amount of a**holes who make their illogical decisions based on superficial and inconsequential information. This is why Bush was able to get elected once (he was handed the first run) and this is why this country is in the shitter today. I believe most who vote in this reckless way (like this a**hole quoted above) find that watching sh*t like American Idol or any other mind-numbingly stupid sh*t on TV is a better way to spend their time than researching information on candidates running for President of this country. Sad, but true.
I sent in my absentee ballot a couple weeks ago.
That voice actress is certainly a dumb ass.
Her thought process makes no sense at all because here in CA Republicans can't vote for Democrats and Republicans can't vote for Democrats. One would have to change their party affiliation in order to do so.

I think that she is just stupid and shouldn't vote at all. I myself voted for Ron Paul today, and I happen to be a very educated, gay male.
Gosh Diane, you and I are so darn opposite. I voted Yes on Prop 93 and Voted No on 94-97. I was going to vote yes for 94-97 but i found out that the if the measures were passed that the Indian Casino were able to do their own auditing. No state involvement. I hope it doesn't pass so that they can go back to the drawing board on this one. It is like the fox guarding the hen house.
That would really be funny if only it weren't true.
They just projected Hillary the winner in CA. With that state, and NY in her camp, she likely gets the nod.
Obama has about $20 million more in campaign funds than Clinton, so it's really going to be interesting the next several weeks.
