Besides Ravelry, my new most favorite website is Etsy, which describes itself as the "place to buy and sell all things homemade". My purchases (so far) include: hand dyed sock yarn, (a joy to knit with), a pair of collage on wood art pieces entitled "Tw0 Bitches", and a lovely burnt velvet shawl. (Click on the photo for a better view). These most definitely were not all purchased from the same sellers.

The site is a fantastic place to shop for gifts - you can find everything from inexpensive handmade jewelry, to note cards, bird houses and clothing. The prices are great, and the sellers are thrilled to have a place to display their crafts. Payment is by Paypal, and shipment has been prompt. Check it out!

My new favorite snack is edamame. I buy it frozen and shelled. Microwave for a few minutes, then saute in chili oil and garlic, finished off with some soy sauce. It's yummy, and good for you!

My new favorite audible books are those featuring Ian Fleming's James Bond. I just finished Casino Royale. They are short, fun, and packed with action. On more serious note, I'm also listening to the Colony - a history of the leper colony on Molokai. It's also very good, but not nearly as fun.

And finally, my new favorite activity with the dogs? Training, and practicing our manners. We had an ugly incident we don't discuss last Sunday when Hanna stole a stuffed lobster at the dog cookie store . . . we did return it, albeit somewhat covered in slobber.

What are your new favorite things?

p.s. my biggest complaint this week is Daylight Saving Time - instead of getting up at 6 and going to bed at 10, I'm getting up at 7 and going to bed at 11. I'm not sure what benefit I'm getting out of this time change . . .

I loathe Daylight Saving Time. Arizona doesn't abide by it, and they seem to be getting along just fine.

Favorite Things? The book, The Piano Tuner, which I just finished this evening. I can't think of anything else new lately. I think I'm in a rut.

I second editthis's statement--"I loathe Daylight Saving Time." I hate it even more this time of the year.

Don't know that I have any new favorite thing, maybe a purple shirt I picked up at Macy's because it was on sale for 9.99--then had to buy a tie that cost many times more than the shirt, but when I wore it last week people went "wow" I've always been more conservative in my dress than in my politics.

man, i'm just amazed at how dedicated you are to blogging. i've been lacking in inspiration lately. maybe i need a new most favorite something! i especially love the pictures of your babies.

fyi, i was told by my doc that too much soy for women is not a good thing, so enjoy edamame in moderation...

Too funny about the stolen lobster! Fred's manners are atrocious as well.
My favorite things currently include James Bond movies (I haven't made it to the books yet) and ultra fine point sharpies.
And are we related? Because I *heart* Etsy, too! Shameless plug--another blogging friend has a site: (pureinnovation.etsy.com) if you're interested.

New favorite things:

MUSIC: Listening to the Once soundtrack and the Six Feet Under (Everything Ends, vol. 2) soundtrack.

BOOKS: Currently reading a fairly dull biography about the very interesting Millicent Fenwick, the real-life former congresswoman Doonsbury character, Lacey Davenport, was modeled after. Waiting in the wings is David Halberstam's The Powers That Be.

A book I recently put down, unfinished, and one whose popularity I do not understand is Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love. If I can stop one person from wasting their time with that book, I will have done my job.

WATCHING: Undeclared, a short-lived and underappreciated series created by a pre-40YO Virgin Judd Apatow featuring an unknown Seth Rogan as one of the six dorm-living college freshman the show is about.

Thanks for the link. I think Etsy is my new favorite website too!

LA- I'm so with you about Eat,Pray,Love. It's so boring, how did it get to be a bestseller?
